Trusted Wood Flooring Installers

Whatever your requirements Flooring Matters SW Ltd can supply you with wood and engineered wood and provide you with an exceptional standard of installation so it lasts for years.

We Recommend Engineered Wood Flooring

An engineered wood floor is constructed of a solid wood wear layer which is pressure-bonded to a plywood or spruce base. This innovative flooring solution addresses the limitations of solid oak floors, as when it’s used with underfloor heating systems, it doesn’t expand, contract or cup (warp or bend) like solid wood can.

Thanks to its design, engineered wood flooring has become the go-to choice for wood floor installations. However, it’s important to note that not all engineered wood floors are created equal. Some suppliers have compromised quality by using MDF-backed boards and extremely thin wear layers.  We pride ourselves on offering only premium products with a wear layer of 4-6mm and a sturdy backing.

Our engineered wood flooring is available in a variety of species, including oak, ash, walnut, and maple. We also provide a wide range of colours, finishes and plank sizes to suit any décor.

Benefits of Choosing an Engineered Wood Floor

  • Stability and Durability: Engineered wood floors are designed to remain stable under varying temperature and humidity conditions, making them ideal for use with underfloor heating systems.
  • High-Quality Construction: At Flooring Matters SW Ltd, our engineered wood floors feature a substantial wear layer and robust backing materials, ensuring long-lasting beauty and performance.
  • Aesthetic Versatility: With a variety of wood species, colors, and finishes available, you can easily find an engineered wood floor that complements your home’s style.
  • Easy Maintenance: Engineered wood floors are simple to clean and maintain, providing a hassle-free flooring solution for busy households.
  • Sustainability: Customers can be assured that all wood supplied by Flooring Matters is FSC certified. Furthermore, the manufacturing process of engineered wood floors means less hardwood is used to create the boards.
  • Increased Home Value: Homes with wood flooring often sell faster and at higher prices. Its timeless appeal and durability make it a desirable feature for potential buyers.

When selecting an engineered wood floor, it’s crucial to choose a product that meets high standards of quality and durability. At Flooring Matters, we are committed to providing superior flooring that enhance the beauty and value of your home.

Engineered wood usually has several layers of base wood cut in different directions and glued together which makes the flooring much more stable.  All the wood we supply will allow sanding down several times, meaning that your flooring will carry on looking beautiful for many years.

Engineered Floor fitting in Devon

Flooring Matters SW LTD carried out a project at this beautiful barn conversion in Cheriton Fitzpaine, Devon.
Quickstep Imperio engineered wood was laid over underfloor heating in the open plan living space.  To bring back the natural warmth of the wood it was given final finishing coat of oil which gives the floor extra protection.

Wooden Herringbone Floor fitting a specialty

We also installed an attractive herringbone oak floor to their studio.  An unfinished oak flooring was used, and after it was laid we sanded it back and finished it with multiple layers of hard wax protective oil.

Tips for Choosing the Right Wood Flooring

  1. Consider Your Lifestyle: If you have pets or children, you might want to opt for harder wood species that can withstand scratches and dents.
  2. Think About Maintenance: Some types of wood flooring require more upkeep than others. Make sure you’re prepared for the level of maintenance your chosen flooring will need.
  3. Set a Budget: Wood flooring comes in a range of prices. Determine how much you’re willing to spend and look for options that fit within your budget.
  4. Sample First: Before making a final decision, get samples of different wood flooring options. Lay them out in your home to see how they look with your lighting and furniture.Choosing the right wood flooring for your home can transform your living space and add significant value.
