4. Sustainable Resource Management:
- We are committed to reducing our consumption of natural resources, using sustainable materials, and promoting a circular economy through recycling and reusing materials where possible.
- We will continue to reduce waste generation by reusing or recycling materials, and ensuring that waste, including vinyl offcuts and carpet, is processed sustainably.
5. Training and Awareness:
- We will ensure that all employees are trained and knowledgeable about environmental issues and their role in reducing our environmental impact.
- All staff will be actively encouraged to participate in environmental initiatives, ensuring that environmental responsibilities are shared across the business.
6. Operational Controls and Procedures:
- We have implemented systems and procedures to control and monitor our environmental performance, including tracking resource usage, waste generation, and emissions.
- We ensure the proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste through licensed waste carriers, complying with relevant regulations.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- We are committed to continually improving our environmental management system (EMS) to meet ISO 14001 standards. This includes regular audits, reviews, and employee engagement to ensure that we are taking the necessary steps to meet and exceed environmental goals.
Key Initiatives:
• Recycling and Waste Management: Flooring Matters is a member of Carpet Recycling UK and the Recofloor scheme, ensuring the recycling of unused vinyl and uplifted flooring. We aim for zero waste to landfill.
• Sustainable Materials: We only use FSC and PEFC certified wood and low-VOC, solvent-free adhesives to reduce the impact on indoor air quality and support sustainable sourcing.
• Energy and Emissions Reduction: We actively manage our fleet and encourage the use of low-carbon transport to reduce carbon emissions and fuel consumption.
• Training and Engagement: All employees receive ongoing training on environmental issues, and we encourage their involvement in improving our environmental practices.
Responsibility:
Environmental management is the responsibility of all employees, with senior management providing the necessary resources to implement and improve the system. Flooring Matters will ensure that this policy is communicated to all staff, suppliers, and stakeholders to support our environmental goals.
By adhering to the principles of ISO 14001, Flooring Matters is committed to ensuring sustainable business practices that protect the environment while providing the highest quality services to our clients.
