Devon Flooring Contractor Scoops National Award

We are very proud to have won the Visitor Attractions section of the CFJ / CFA Awards for 2021 for our work at Bear Town last year.

Having entered for the first time, the team were delighted to receive the award for best Visitor Attraction flooring for their work at Bear Town, a new attraction for toddlers in Devon.

Andy Law, Director, travelled from Devon to Coombe Abbey, Coventry for the Awards with the Flooring Matters SW Ltd team.  Everyone had a great time and enjoyed a fabulous 3 course lunch at this prestigious venue. Rev Richard Coles of Communards and Strictly fame presented the awards at this annual ceremony for the Contractor Flooring Association and Contract Flooring Journal.

Since winning the award, we are delighted to have been featured in the Mid Devon Advertiser, with the headline “Flooring team on top of the world after national win”!  After this, the MP for Central Devon, Rt Hon. Mel Stride saw this and sent a letter congratulating us!

CFJ/CFA Award 2021 for Visitor Attraction Flooring

Based on a real life street, Bear Town was designed to give a truly immersive role playing experience for kids.  This interesting project involved laying flooring throughout this new building, totaling more than 600M2.

The project was based near Cullompton in Devon. Following on from the success of Bear Trail, an outdoor adventure trail, Ben, the director, wanted to create a new indoor playzone.

Flooring Project with Safety in Mind

In order to create the desired effects, but make the tourist attraction as safe as possible, A variety of different floor coverings were used over the various areas.

• Altro Walkway hard-wearing safety flooring was installed in the themed rooms, street and circulation areas
• Altro Wood safety flooring was used in the cafe area
• Altro Stronghold in the kitchen
• Heckmondwicke Supercord heavy duty carpet was fitted in the back of house areas
• Polyflor bloc was installed to the interactive computer room
• Fball 121 primer and 1100 Gypsum screed were also used

Fun at Bear Town, Visitor Attraction in Devon

Built for children, Bear Town is a truly immersive play experience that supports the Early Years Foundation Stage. Alongside the unique role play areas is a relaxing café where visitors can enjoy a selection of freshly ground coffee, a range of hot and cold drinks, fresh cakes, snacks and delicious meals, all cooked on site.
