Andy Law Flooring Matters

Meet Andy – Company Director

Andy Law founded Flooring Matters SW Ltd in 2016 with a clear vision: to provide high-quality, sustainable flooring solutions with exceptional service. What began as a small local business has grown into one of the South West’s most trusted independent flooring companies, employing over 15 dedicated team members and delivering projects across both the residential and commercial sectors.

Andy is a hands-on leader with a passion for craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation. He’s a strong advocate for continuous professional development, regularly attending specialist training to ensure the business stays ahead of the latest techniques, products, and industry standards. He is also a CSCS Gold Card holder. This commitment to excellence has helped establish Flooring Matters as a go-to name for flooring across Devon and beyond – and has also contributed to the company becoming a proud Which? Trusted Trader and multi-winners of the CFJ awards.

Outside of work, Andy is a keen endurance athlete. He regularly takes part in long-distance running expeditions, pushing physical limits in some of the most demanding environments in Europe. He has recently completed a rugged trail through the Kintail mountains of Scotland, and took part in the internationally renowned Trans-Alpine Run, covering mountain terrain across multiple countries. His discipline, focus, and drive on the trail echo the same values he brings to the business – resilience, precision, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.

Whether he’s leading a commercial tender or tackling a technical installation, Andy brings energy, insight, and passion to every project. His values continue to shape the direction of Flooring Matters SW Ltd and define the customer experience we’re proud to offer.

Work Hard, Laugh Harder: Our Team in Action

Our team values professional development and camaraderie, enjoying regular training, social events, and team-building experiences. Last year, we celebrated with a Team-Building Day at the Devon Activity Centre, where we bonded over exciting karting races, sharpened our Segway skills, and tackled a challenging Minefield course. The day was filled with laughter, team spirit, and a few surprises, bringing us closer together and reinforcing our shared dedication to Flooring Matters SW Ltd!

Supporting Our Community

At Flooring Matters SW Ltd, we believe in making a positive impact beyond our workspaces. We’re proud to support local causes and give back where it matters most. One of our ongoing partnerships is with the RSPCA, where we’ve contributed carpet offcuts for animal bedding and their vans and are planning volunteer days for our team to lend a hand at the centre.

We’re always looking for new ways to get involved with local initiatives and are committed to building a business that cares about its community as much as its customers.

A key part of this is making sure that usable materials don’t go to waste. As proud members of the UK Sustainable Flooring Association (UKSFA), we’re passionate about giving flooring a second life.

In one recent collaboration, we worked with Bespa, Gravita, and FIR Construction to repurpose high-quality carpet tiles that were no longer needed. Through FIR’s connection with the charity Wellbeing in Action, these tiles are now being reused in a new community building in Newton Abbot, helping both people and planet.

Whether it’s through material reuse, fundraising, or hands-on volunteering, we’re proud to play our part. And we’re always happy to hear from charities and community groups who might be able to make use of carpet or flooring materials, so if you know of a worthy cause, please get in touch!

CSR Project Highlight: Citizens Advice Torbay

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and community support, we were proud to work with Citizens Advice Torbay during their 85th anniversary year.

This CSR project involved the donation and installation of new flooring within their premises, helping to create a welcoming, practical and durable environment for staff, volunteers and the people who rely on their services. Wherever possible, material choices and installation methods were carefully considered to support longevity, reduce waste and minimise environmental impact.

Projects like this reflect our belief that responsible flooring isn’t just about how a space looks on day one, but how it performs over time and how thoughtfully materials are used. By supporting local organisations such as Citizens Advice Torbay, we’re able to combine craftsmanship, sustainability and social responsibility in a way that delivers lasting value to the community.

Developing Future Talent

We’re committed to developing talent from the ground up. So far, we’ve supported and trained four apprentices, with more currently progressing through our team. Apprenticeships are a core part of our long-term vision, helping to build a strong, capable workforce for the future.

We’re also passionate about giving young people a meaningful introduction to the industry. In recent years, we’ve welcomed several school students for week-long work experience placements, giving them a hands-on look at life in the flooring trade and a valuable start to their careers.

Training doesn’t stop there, we invest in continuous professional development for our whole team. In 2024, Andy, Charles, and Maisie all successfully completed their NVQ Level 3 in Contracting Operations, earning their CSCS Gold Cards in recognition of their advanced knowledge and professionalism. In 2026, Fiona, our Office Manager, gained her IOSH qualification, supporting our strong health and safety culture. This ensures our systems, processes and day-to-day operations meet recognised industry standards, giving our customers added peace of mind.

By staying ahead of the curve with up-to-date training in flooring techniques, materials, and industry best practices, we ensure every member of our team is confident, capable, and ready to deliver the highest standards of work on every project.
