Giving Flooring a Second Life

At Flooring Matters SW Ltd, we believe that collaboration, community, and sustainability can go hand in hand. We’ve recently been involved in some fantastic examples of us reusing flooring. 

We were recently asked to uplift used carpet tiles on behalf of our friends at Bespa during a commercial fit-out project. When we removed the tiles, we noticed they were still in fantastic condition, they simply didn’t match the new brand colours required by the incoming business, Gravita. Rather than see these quality tiles go to waste, we began looking for ways of reusing them.

FIR Construction,  a female-led company, introduced us to Wellbeing in Action, a fantastic local charity working on the creation of a new community building in Newton Abbot.

Thanks to this collaboration, the donated carpet tiles will now be used in the new space, giving them a second life and helping to support local community wellbeing at the same time.

Collaboration for a Greener, More Community-Focused Future

This project is a brilliant example of how businesses across different sectors can come together to reduce waste and make a tangible difference in their communities. Sustainability is a key focus for us at Flooring Matters. We are proud members of the UK Sustainable Flooring Alliance (UKSFA) and are committed to promoting the reuse and responsible recycling of flooring materials wherever possible.

It’s great to see that by working with partners like Bespa, Gravita, FIR Construction, and Wellbeing in Action, we can help reduce landfill waste while supporting community wellbeing – a real win-win!

Helping Local Animals Too – Partnership with Little Valley RSPCA

Another recent project we are proud to support is our ongoing collaboration with Little Valley Animal Shelter RSPCA. We are supplying carpet offcuts to the shelter, which they are using in their transport vans and as cosy bedding for the animals in their care.

It’s another simple but meaningful way we can contribute to reducing waste while helping a worthy cause. We’re delighted to know that our surplus materials are providing comfort to some very deserving four-legged friends!
