Flooring Matters SW Ltd: Now ISO Certified Flooring Contractors
Flooring Matters SW Ltd Achieves ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Certification
We’re proud to share some exciting news. Flooring Matters SW Ltd has officially achieved ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certification which covers the supply and installation of flooring and hygienic wall panelling across the commercial and residential sectors. We’re now ISO Certified Flooring Contractors, and it’s a title we’ve worked hard to earn.
This is a significant milestone for our business, and one that’s been years in the making. It reflects a genuine shift in how we plan, deliver, and improve our work every single day, not just a certificate on the wall.
What is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001?
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are internationally recognised standards. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) developed them to set out clear requirements for effective management systems.
- ISO 9001 focuses on quality management. It centres on consistently meeting customer requirements and continually improving how a business operates. This runs from how we quote and plan a job, right through to how we deliver and review it afterwards.
- ISO 14001 focuses on environmental management. It helps us understand and reduce our environmental impact. We manage waste responsibly and build sustainability into everyday decisions.
Together, these two standards mean our processes go beyond doing a good job on-site. As ISO Certified Flooring Contractors, we commit to consistency, accountability, and doing things the right way, every time, while staying mindful of our environmental responsibilities.
The process of getting certified
Achieving ISO certification isn’t a quick tick-box exercise. It’s a structured process that becoming ISO Certified Flooring Contractors demands, and it typically involves:
- Gap analysis – We reviewed our existing processes against the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. This helped us identify what we already had in place and what we still needed to develop.
- Building the management system – We created clear, documented processes covering everything from health and safety and supplier management to how we handle customer feedback and non-conformances, plus how we manage environmental impacts like waste, materials, and resource use.
- Embedding it in day-to-day work – This proved the hardest part. Policies only mean something when the team actually uses them, so we prioritised training and communication across the business.
- Internal audits – We checked the system worked as intended before involving an external body, and we corrected any gaps we found.
- External assessment (Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits) – An accredited certification body assessed our management system on paper, then carried out an on-site audit to verify we genuinely followed it in practice.
- Certification and ongoing surveillance – Certification doesn’t mark the end of the process. Regular surveillance audits, usually annual, ensure we maintain and continually improve the system. Full recertification happens every three years.
Working across busy commercial and residential sites meant we needed to formalise a lot of the good practice we already had informally. We made it consistent, documented, and repeatable, regardless of who does the job or which site it’s on.
What this means for our customers and partners
Certification isn’t just an internal achievement. Choosing ISO Certified Flooring Contractors brings real, practical benefits to the people we work with:
- Consistency you can rely on – Every job follows the same quality-controlled process, whether it’s a small residential fitting or a large commercial contract.
- Easier tendering – Many main contractors and public sector organisations require ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001 certification as a condition of tendering or joining an approved supplier list. Our certification opens doors that would otherwise stay closed to us.
- Reduced environmental impact – From material waste to responsible disposal, our ISO 14001 certification means we build environmental considerations into how we plan and deliver every project.
- Continual improvement – The ISO framework isn’t a “set and forget” system. It requires us to keep reviewing, auditing, and improving, so our service should only get stronger over time.
- Greater accountability – Clearer processes bring clearer responsibilities. If something does go wrong, we have a defined way to identify it, fix it, and stop it happening again.
A team effort
The hard work, professionalism, and buy-in of the whole team at Flooring Matters made this achievement possible. A management system like this touches every part of the business, and the day-to-day commitment of everyone involved turned a set of documented processes into a genuine way of working.
We’re proud of what this certification represents. As ISO Certified Flooring Contractors, we’re excited about what it lets us build on as we continue to grow.
