What We Did
Viva Torquay Flooring
In the heart of Torquay Harbour, Viva Restaurant, Bar, and Games Zone has undergone a remarkable transformation.
Once a traditional Fish & Chip shop with a nightclub above, the building has been completely reimagined into a vibrant, multi-level venue that blends modern design with character and charm.
Restaurant Bar and Game Zone Flooring In Viva Torquay
From the outset, the project had a clear vision: to breathe new life into an ageing space and turn it into a contemporary Street Food Restaurant on the ground floor, with a fun, high-energy Games Zone above.
At the same time, the team had to balance creativity with practicality, while staying on budget.
Floor Leveling, Herringbone LVT and Wall Cladding
The transformation began on the ground floor, where we prepared the surface using Tremco Primer and SX600NA.
Next, we installed Altro Whiterock Vantage® Wall Cladding along with Altro XpressLay, resulting in a professional kitchen space that is both durable and stylish.
Meanwhile, in the Front of House area, the atmosphere was elevated with the installation of TLC Massimo Plank LVT flooring. Originally, it was going to be laid in a herringbone pattern. However, after experimenting with different options, a block basket weave pattern was chosen.
This rustic-yet-refined design brought character and continuity, with over 150m² laid to connect the venue’s various zones seamlessly.
Flooring that works for every space
Viva Torquay Flooring: Striking Zig Zag Flooring and LED nosings
Upstairs in the Games Zone, covering over 500m², the brief was to create visual impact without removing the existing floor. To achieve this, we used IVC XtraFloor Flex Pro underlay before installing IVC Roots 55 in a bold black and white zigzag layout.
The result was eye-catching and energetic – perfect for the entertainment space.
To finish, we installed Genesis NSL15 nosings with LED lighting, which added depth and atmosphere. The resulting effect was stunning and exceeded expectations. So much so, the same finish has been applied to the owner’s other project as The Yacht, also in Torquay.
Safety Flooring in Funky Colours
For the karaoke booths, we introduced a playful pop of colour with 30m² of pink IVC Optimise 70 acoustic vinyl. This bold choice helped create a lively, club-like feel and enhanced the overall acoustic comfort.
The middle floor, originally planned as a simpler space, evolved into something much more dynamic. With 150m² of IVC iSafe 70 in Mustard, we created a safe, slip-resistant area that now hosts darts and axe-throwing activities – all with a bold and memorable finish.
A seamless blend of innovation, tradition, and craftsmanship
After three months, the project was complete, on time and budget – showcasing the talent, skill, and attention to detail across the whole team. Each layer of the project played its part. From Tremco primers to Altro finishes and IVC innovations to TLC touches – every choice mattered.

As a result, the project gained national recognition Flooring Matters SW Ltd was honoured with three prestigious CFJ Awards in 2024: Best Bar Installation, Sustainability Initiative of the Year, and Overall Best Project.
