Transforming a Home in Lustleigh with Ted Todd Wood Flooring in Sugar Cane
Project Overview
- Location: Lustleigh, Devon
- Product: Ted Todd Wood Flooring – Warehouse range, in Sugar Cane
- Areas fitted: Lounge, diner, hallway, and office
- Total area: 80 sqm
There is often far more involved in a flooring project than simply replacing one floor with another, and this recent installation in Lustleigh was a perfect example.
We were asked to replace an existing floated wood floor across two large rooms, a hallway and an office. In total, the project covered approximately 85m², creating a great opportunity to completely transform the feel and flow of the home.
The Flooring Choice
The client chose the beautiful Ted Todd Warehouse Range in Sugar Cane. This wide plank wood flooring offers a warm, natural tone that brings a fresh and timeless feel to the space, while the straight lay pattern keeps the overall look clean and modern.
Preparation is key
Before the new flooring could be installed, we first removed the original floated wood floor. To ensure a seamless finish throughout the property, we also removed the ceramic tiles in the hallway. This allowed us to create a consistent floor height across every area, which is key for both appearance and long-term performance.
The hallway and office then required latex smoothing to prepare the subfloor and ensure everything was perfectly level before installation. We also carefully removed all skirting boards at the start of the project so that the new wood flooring could be fitted neatly and professionally, avoiding the need for trims.
See it. Feel it. Choose with confidence.
Installation and Layout
Once the preparation work was complete, we installed the new wide plank flooring using a floated installation method throughout. The straight lay pattern helps to enhance the sense of space, particularly across the larger rooms, creating a clean and continuous flow.
Finishing Details
To complete the finer details, we installed complementary Ted Todd radiator pipe roses and scotia, ensuring a tidy, cohesive finish around pipework and room edges while matching the flooring perfectly.
Finally, the skirting boards were reinstated to complete the transformation and give the rooms a crisp, finished look.
The End Result
The end result is a bright, cohesive and much more modern space, with the natural character of the Ted Todd Sugar Cane flooring tying every room together beautifully.
