We completed this project in Bovey Tracey in two stages. First, we installed the main areas. Later, we returned to complete the lounge. This is a great example of a customer inviting us back after a successful first phase.
Initially, we transformed the hallway, kitchen and dining areas using Herringbone LVT from the Invictus Maximus range in the rich Roasted colourway. The classic 4″ x 16″ layout adds structure and character. As a result, the space feels warm and well connected.
After completing these areas, the customer was delighted with the finish. Because of this, she asked us to return and install the same Herringbone LVT in the lounge. This allowed us to extend the design and create a seamless flow across the ground floor.
Overall, the finished result feels elegant, consistent and perfectly suited to modern family life.
Preparation and Installation Process
As always, we focused on preparation first. This ensures a long-lasting and high-quality finish.

Subfloor preparation:
We installed 9mm flooring-grade plywood across the main areas. This created a stable and even base. We also feathered all joints to achieve a smooth surface.
- Matwell adjustment:
Next, we built up the entrance matwell to meet the new floor height. This provided a neat and practical finish at the front door. - Adhesive installation:
We then used a manufacturer-recommended adhesive. This ensures strong bonding and reliable performance over time. - Setting out the design:
Before installation, we carefully planned the Herringbone LVT layout. This step is key, as it keeps the pattern consistent across each space. - Second phase works:
When we returned, we matched the new lounge flooring to the existing areas. As a result, the transition feels completely seamless. - Finishing details:
Finally, we installed door thresholds where required. These create clean and tidy transitions between spaces.
The Result
This project shows how effective Herringbone LVT can be when used throughout a home. Not only does it add visual interest, but it also creates a strong sense of flow.
Importantly, the customer asked us back to complete the lounge. For us, this is one of the best indicators of a job well done.
